2009 Specs & Set-Up Information
- 2.11.2009 - There has not been allot of changes in the early set up information, somethings that we feel you will need to keep an eye on and or that we have
seen some issues with are.
Spark plug caps, these should be replaced from time to time to keep them
tight fitting and not a bad idea to cable tie the cap as we have seen some
of the cap pop off during a race.
Front arm shock eyelet bushing, I hope most of you have re loc-tited the
eyelet to the shaft, if not please do. Another area to look at is the thin
black bushing that goes into the eyelet and around the cross shaft is too
tight, get this good and clean and lubed up and maybe cut a little off the
bushing so when things tighten up it can still pivot. there have been a
couple broken shafts and this may help prevent this.
Front arm assy, inspect the area around the tab that the shock bolt into
for cracks. Also make sure to check the cross shaft in the tunnel.is
straight.
Wires going to the warning light in the hood if they fall off and contact
the exhaust pipe they will short out and can cause eng. to stall.
If there is anyone that didn't get the training DVD please let me know and
i will mail one asap.
Ski saddle rubbers, we are testing new saddles to keep these rubbers in
place watch for info on these soon.
Let me know if there are any questions that you may have that isn't covered
in the owners / performance book and or the training DVD.

2009 600R CROSS-COUNTRY UPDATES/SET-UP INFO
2009 600R INTERNATIONAL JET CHART
- 1.12.2009 -Here's some testing info from last week and weekend on the 600R calibration issues in cross country racing.
PROBLEM
1) Drop throttle after hard running in conditions where snow can enter the
underhood area. Then it will lose a cylinder for some period of time.
Usually comes back and runs on 2 until throttle is dropped again.
2) After idling, and/or low TVO running for 5-30 sec depending on
condition, accelerating from 1/4 throttle to WOT at times you would
experience engine missfiring for some period of time. Usually the missfire
is a rich acceleration feeling and goes away when the engine comes clean.
PROBLEM 1 TESTING
Both Brian Dick and I did some tests last week and this weekend, in
different locations and different tests.
a) Brian sealed up around the air box to chassis areas, and taped off the
underhood air intake screen and tried to duplicate the problem he has
experienced. The problem did not occur.
b) I was able to get my sled to develop the problem which to me felt like
no fuel was being delivered to one of the cylinders at low TVO. In this
case the MAG cylinder. Erratic 1 to 2 cylinder idle, increased throttle
opening would be one cylinder only, driving higher TVO's to WOT would let
the 2nd cylinder pick back up and the engine would run on 2 again until
throttle was dropped. Then the problem would repeat. It felt like a pilot
circuit was plugged. I removed the intake system, dried everything up and
reassembled. I then added Isoprophyl alchohol and tried to repeat the
problem. I had no problem after adding the alchohol in approx 40miles of
driving with snow entering the underhood area and hitting the pipe.
RECOMMENDATION
Seal up around intake box area (see Brian), tape off underhood intake
screen, add 4-5oz of Isopropyl alchohol to 5 gal of fuel. Do not error on
the lean side for main jet.
PROBLEM 2
No recommendation at this time. Need more field calibration work.

- 1.8.2009 - I wanted to remind everyone again that the front arm shock in the skid
frame needs to have the eyelet Removed and replaced using loc tite as we
have seem some come loose and they may not have gotten enough loc-tite the
first time. Also make sure you are watching all the shock body end caps so
they stay tight. Mike Kloety - Team Arctic Snowmobile Racing Manager - 218-681-9885
- 1.5.2009 - Front ski shocks are bone
stock with the 175/300 ski springs. [We are looking at going to 175/400
this week-end as Dan thinks it looks a little soft to him] The motor
package is the exact package Steve supplies in the Speedwerx kit with the
full rear cooling system. The tune-up is the exact stuff we post in the
trailer. The front arm shock has been updated by the Fox people and we
would have to get that info from Ben or Rick. It has a 230 spring on the
front arm. The rear arm shock is stock on all our sleds here at the n shop.
We are running one stock rear wire and one .375 wire on position #1 on Dan
and Cody. The coupling block is on either 5 or 6. Russ Ebert
- 12.29.2008 - A couple things we have saw after the pine lake race. the front cooler was
packed full of grass and needs to be cleaned out good. Also the is a bolt
that goes in the bottom of the motor/case water pump housing area pn# 2 on
page 46 of your parts book that should be taken out and fill the hole with
silcone and then reinstall bolt to help stop vibration and breakage of the
bolt. Mike Kloety - Team Arctic Snowmobile Racing Manager- 218-681-9885
